La Jornada – Santiago Nieto Castillo reappears at Samuel García’s event in NL

Monterrey, NL. The Office of the Special Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes (FEDE) and the government of Nuevo León organized this Thursday the Women Without Violence forum, at the facilities of the Museum of Mexican History.

The event, held in the context of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, was chaired by Gilberto de Hoyos, head of the FEDE; Governor Samuel García; the owner of Amar a Nuevo León, Mariana Rodríguez; Alicia Leal, head of the Secretariat for Women; Carla Humphrey, counselor of the INE; Ivonne Álvarez, president of the local Congress and Gustavo Adolfo Guerrero, state attorney.

During his participation, De Hoyos called on all sectors of the entity to commemorate this day, the objective of which is to eradicate attacks against the female sector “that do so much damage to our society.”

In the event, the former head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Santiago Nieto, who accompanied his wife Carla Humphrey, reappeared.

The counselor spoke of the need to legislate on gender parity to access public office and end all kinds of violence against women, also in the political sphere.

The former official left his post in early November, after a scandal broke out over his wedding celebration in Guatemala.

At the end of the event, Nieto left the place without giving a statement to the press.
