Appointment of Victoria Rodríguez for Banxico reaches the Senate

The Senate Board of Directors received this afternoon the proposal of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for Victoria Rodríguez Ceja to be a member of the Governing Board of Banco de México (Banxico).

At the end of the session on Thursday, the president of the Senate, Olga Sánchez Cordero, reported that sand received the official letter from the Ministry of the Interior for the ratification of the Undersecretary of Expenditures of Finance.

Immediately, the office was turned over to the Finance Commission, chaired by the Morenoist Alejandro Armenta, and it is expected that it will meet in the next few days to issue, where appropriate, the opinion of eligibility and suitability of the official to occupy said position.

The president of the Political Coordination Board, Ricardo Monreal, trusted that next Thursday the full legislature can discuss and, where appropriate, ratify said appointment in favor of the still undersecretary of Expenditures of the Treasury.

Through Twitter, the still undersecretary of Finance Expenditures, Victoria Rodríguez Ceja, He promised to comply with the autonomy of the Bank of Mexico and fight inflation.

“It is an honor for me to have been nominated by the President of the Republic for the position of governor of Banxico. If it is ratified by the Senate, I will fulfill the function established within the framework of this institution,” he said.
